The choir sings
regularly at the 10.30 Mass on Sundays and on other important days
in the calendar. Practice follows the Mass and finishes at usually
12.45. Very occasionally there may be additional practices at
Easter or Christmas. Sometimes we are asked to sing on other
occasions, e.g. weddings, funerals and other important
celebrations. We also sometimes join in events or services with
The music we sing tends
to be in the traditional vein, and in addition to the items of the
Service we do polyphonic anthems. However we would always consider
departing from the usual and are prepared to try anything.
The choir is a very
friendly group and we try to make sure we enjoy what we do. There
is no definite obligation; we tend to tailor to available resources
rather than insist on attendance. However a reasonable commitment
is needed to maintain quality. To this end we need as many members
as we can get.
Several of the present
membership started with no experience and not being able to read
music. However they soon learnt!
If you are the
slightest bit tempted please come and give us a trial. We have
never turned anybody away and there are no auditions. The
continuance of the choir depends on finding new members and we feel
we are a very important part of parish life.
